Description
– Bitumen cold joint sealer is a cold hand applied emulsion, designed to be used as a joint sealer on patches & vertical joints onto asphalt and macadam surfaces.
The cationic formulation provides a fast break, and hence earlier weather resistance than the normal anionic products.
This material complies with the requirements of BS 594987 Clause 6.8 for treating the vertical face of joints in new asphalt.
Application
All surfaces must be clean and free from dust/debris & grease. Stir well before use. Apply by
pouring with a suitable pouring bucket or can, or with a dampened tar brush to achieve a thin, even coat.
Coverage
Coverage to achieve a 1 mm residual bitumen on a 40mm deep joint requires the application of
1KG per 15 linear metres, and pro rata for other depth/widths.
Cure times
This Cationic Cold Joint Paint is a water based product and is only resistant to rain when it is fully broken.
Breaking time will normally be around 20 – 30 minutes. (This is based on ambient temperatures around 15 degrees.)
